Now, let’s dive into its features and all the important stuff.

Security:

The OneKey Pro is equipped with four EAL 6+ certified secure elements, ensuring robust protection against various security threats. This certification indicates that the device has undergone rigorous testing to meet high industry standards for security assurance. It’s the most advanced security chip as of right now and only two or three brands use that chip now. Most of the other hardware wallets are running on EAL 5+, which is an older chip. Also, most other devices have only 1 such secure element, some have 2. I’ve not seen anything with 4 of these. So, surely this makes it stand out from the competition. But it’s not just that. 

Air-Gapped Functionality: You can operate the wallet in an air gapped mode, which means that transactions can be confirmed offline using QR codes. Air gapped mode disables all external connectivity to the internet, so no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no usb needed. This significantly reduces the risk of online attacks, as the private keys remain isolated from internet-connected devices. This is optional, as you can connect it via Bluetooth should you wish to. For the first time, I see a wallet that gives me the choice to use it air gapped or not. It’s one of several such unique features that make it stand out.

Design & Build

This device is very much the size and overall feel of the OneKey Touch. Almost the same, slightly thinner and wider, which makes it somewhat more comfortable in my hand, which I like. It also feels lighter, and very easy to carry with me on my travels. I like the Topuch model a lot, but it will stay in my house as backup and this one I will take with me when I fly off to South America next week. I synced it with the same seed phrase as my OneKey Touch, so both are operating the same accounts. This way I don’t worry too much if one of them gets lost or malfunctions, I have backups.

Wireless charging
It supports Qi wireless charging, which is a widely adopted standard for wireless power transfer. This allows users to charge the device without needing to connect a cable directly, making it more convenient for on-the-go use. It comes with a 530mAh lithium-ion battery, which provides sufficient power for several hours of usage. By avoiding frequent plugging and unplugging of cables, wireless charging can help minimize wear on the USB-C port, potentially extending its lifespan. This is one of the several unique features that only this device offers.

Touchscreen and Biometric Security
The wallet has a 3.5-inch color touchscreen that enhances usability. Additionally, it includes a biometric fingerprint scanner for secure access and transaction approval, making it convenient for those who prioritize both security and ease of use. I personally really like this feature because I set up a really long and complex pin code, so having the option to unlock with fingerprint makes quite a difference.

Camera and Flashlight
A 2-megapixel rear camera allows you to scan QR codes directly from the device, this is needed for transactions in air-gapped mode. The inclusion of a flashlight is a unique feature that no other hardware wallet offers, it helps QR code scanning in low-light conditions. It’s yet another unique feature that makes the OneKey Pro stand out from the competition.
Battery Life
The OneKey Pro is powered by a 530 mAh lithium-ion battery, providing approximately 5 to 8 hours of usage on a full charge. It supports both USB-C and wireless Qi charging, although it does not come with a wireless charger included in the package, which is a shame as I don’t own one. I travel 9 months of the year, so I try to carry as little as possible with me. Anyhow, if you have one at home, use it.

Compatibility

First, in terms of compatibility, not only this, but all OneKey devices offer some of the best device compatibility on the market. The mobile app can be used on Mac, Windows, Linux, IOS and Android, so practically any device you may have is covered and it’s even compatible with third party software wallets like Metamask, Tresor web wallet, sparrow and Bitcoin Core, just to name but a few. 

The OneKey Pro supports every major blockchain out there and all their tokens, so we’re talking  thousands of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Polygon, Avalanche and XRP, and many, many more. It is compatible with multiple operating systems such as macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, making it ideal for anyone. Nothing better than having peace of mind that you’re backed up properly. It’s only 20 dollars, so really affordable and easy to use. Software and Open Source

OneKey emphasizes transparency through its open-source software. All of their devices and their apps are open source. Only the secure element chips are not open source due to security policies from manufacturers like Samsung, the rest of the wallet’s software is open source and available for independent audits. There have been several audits already, you can find them on their website. This helped OneKey build trust among its users since it first hit the market. This was 4-5 years ago, so they’re already an established brand that I use a lot and I’m very happy with all their products. I own the OneKey Classic, Touch, several Key  these are the titanium plates for safeguarding your seed phrase, and now the OneKey Pro. I do reviews of cold wallets all the time, so many of these get sent to me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t use them. I usually sync several devices with the same accounts, same seed phrase, so I have two or three devices for each of my accounts, they just work as backups. I do this with every brand since I have two or three models from each brand except Trezor and Ledger. I’m still using the Model T and the nano X from 2018, I just never got too excited about their other devices. Ledger was a sponsor of this channel for a long time, but ever since their controversial upgrade where they made it possible to extract your seed phrase from the device, I lost interest as many of us who have been in the crypto space for a long while did.

User Experience

The OneKey Pro features a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, making it user-friendly and intuitive. This is comparable to the Trezor Model T’s touchscreen but offers additional functionalities such as wireless charging and air-gapped signing via QR codes, in fact, it is the first device I’ve come across, that has air-gapped functionality, but also gives you the option to use it with Bluetooth, for those who want faster, easier way to transact. Especially if you’re going to use it only at home, then your Bluetooth would be secure enough. It’s more dangerous when using it on the go, which is when your phone can get hacked and Bluetooth in particular. The Ledger Nano X relies on Bluetooth for everything, and I don’t have the choice to use it airgapped, which may expose it to different security risks, so in this respect, this device is more advanced and more secure.

Criticism has been directed at its battery life when used extensively without charging, I have used it for just a week now, so I don’t have a long experience but the battery is smaller than the one in their previous Touch model, so with the extra features like camera and flashlight, the battery can drain faster than what I’m used to. But that’s not a deal breaker for me. You can dim the screen and turn off the haptic key function and this will put less pressure on the battery. I even hear that they’re working on a firmware upgrade that will reduce the battery consumption and extend its life, so that’s cool.

Also, I have one more criticism and that’s about the phone app. I feel that sometimes it takes a little too long to update my balances on various networks. You can make things faster by selecting a particular network and display only the tokens and coins on that blockchain, but I would prefer if the balances could be updated quicker than right now. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Pricing
