How To Connect Metamask with Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

This is a short tutorial about using Metamask Wallet with BSC (Binance Smart Chain) so you can use DEXes and other applications built on BSC.

First of course, you will need to have your Metamask wallet setup.

If you don’t have one, head over to the Download page and complete the setup first.

Installing and setting up MetaMask

MetaMask can be downloaded on Brave Browser, Chrome and Firefox, or on iOS and Android if you’re a mobile user.

Don’t forget to make a note of your “seed phrase” as this will be your only (and most precious) protective guard of this wallet. If you forget your password or change computers and install metamask from a scratch later on, this seed phrase will make it possible for you to recover any data /coins that was being stored on your previous device/browser.

By default, Metamask is configured to connect to the Ethereum Network. There are in fact a few different Ethereum channels that you can choose from, with Main Ethereum Network being the one that is mostly used.

Setting Up Metamask With Binance Smart Chain

For you to start using Metamask with Binance Smart Chain, you will need to configure the network on your end and the steps to follow are:

1.On the Settings page, we want to locate the Networks menu.

2. You want to click Add Network in the top-right corner to manually add the Binance Smart Chain one – it doesn’t come packaged with MetaMask.

3. You will choose Mainnet or Testnet (this one of course, is for testing purposes, so if you are not a beta tester of an application, just use the Mainnet)

4. For the MainNet the parameters you need to enter are as follows:

Mainnet (This is the one you are probably looking for)
Network Name: Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID: 56
Symbol: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
