On this day, exactly 12 years ago, Bitcoin reached $1000 per coin for the first time in history.
Bitcoin first surpassed the $1,000 mark on November 29, 2013, during a significant price rally that showcased the cryptocurrency’s growing popularity and acceptance. This event was part of a broader surge in Bitcoin’s value throughout that year, which saw its price rise dramatically from around $145 in May to nearly $1,200 by December, representing an increase of approximately 730%. Bitcoin went through a turbulent period right after this, including the collapse of the biggest (and pretty much only) exchange at the time, Mt.Gox and it would be almost 5 years until it gets to that price point again. In the months following the event, Bitcoin’s price plummeted to under $300 by early 2015, which is when I got involved with Bitcoin and eventually we got back to the $1000 price tag on 5 January, 2017. That same year, Bitcoin rallied to almost $20,000 (by December 2017), printing a total ROI of approximately 1881.60%
