February is traditionally a month of transition in the crypto markets, but in 2026, it’s looking more like a “Liquidity Stress Test.”
In fact, the market is bracing for over $1 billion in total liquidity injections this month.

While some are “business as usual” linear releases, a few—specifically Hyperliquid and Berachain—are massive supply shocks that could dictate altcoin sentiment for the rest of Q1.

If you only track three events this month, make it these. They represent the highest concentration of value and the most significant shifts in circulating supply.

1. Hyperliquid (HYPE) – The Heavyweight Champion

  • Date: February 6
  • The Damage: ~$307 Million
  • The Narrative: HYPE has been the “darling” of the perp DEX world. While a $300M+ unlock is massive, much of this is anticipated by institutional hedgers. Watch for a “sell the rumor, buy the news” event if the price holds the $28 support level.

2. Berachain (BERA) – The Supply Shock

  • Date: February 6
  • The Damage: ~$29 Million
  • The Narrative: Don’t let the dollar amount fool you. This unlock represents nearly 43% of the current circulating supply. When the float doubles in a single day, volatility is a guarantee, not a possibility.

3. Starknet (STRK) – The Inflationary Test

  • Date: February 15
  • The Damage: 127M Tokens (~4.6% of supply)
  • The Narrative: Starknet continues its aggressive vesting schedule. Historically, STRK has faced headwinds during these periods, making the mid-month mark a critical zone for L2 traders.

These are the major 3, but there’s more. Of course. Here are all the token unlocks that are due this month, so you can be on the alert.

The Early February Wave (Feb 1 – Feb 7)

  • Feb 1 | Sui (SUI): ~54M tokens (~$80M).
Only 0.54% of supply, but a high-dollar figure.

Sui has historically absorbed these well due to high exchange liquidity.
  • Feb 2 | Ethena (ENA): ~40.6M tokens (~$5.7M). Primarily core contributors.
  • Feb 5 | XDC Network (XDC): ~$30.4M worth. A significant cliff for the enterprise-focused L1.
  • Feb 6 | Hyperliquid (HYPE): 9.92M tokens (~$307M).
This is the “Main Event.” While the team gets a predictable 1.2M distribution, the total release is massive. With HYPE trading around $30, watch the $28 support level closely.
  • Feb 6 | Berachain (BERA): ~63.7M tokens (~$29M). Don’t let the dollar amount fool you—this represents 43% of the current circulating supply. Expect extreme volatility as the float nearly doubles overnight.

The Mid-Month Grind (Feb 10 – Feb 16)

  • Feb 10/11 | Aptos (APT): 11.3M tokens (~$11.3M). A recurring monthly cliff for the community and investors.
  • Feb 11 | Avalanche (AVAX): 1.67M tokens (~$17M). Released to the Foundation. At 0.36% of supply, this is generally considered a “non-event.”
  • Feb 13 | Arbitrum (ARB): ~92.6M tokens (~$13.7M). A mix of team and investor vesting.
  • Feb 15 | Starknet (STRK): 127M tokens. One of the larger percentage-of-supply unlocks this month (~4.6%).

The Month-End Close

  • Feb 28 | Optimism (OP): ~31.3M tokens. Continuing the steady linear expansion of the OP Stack ecosystem.

🚫 The “Big Delay”: Story Protocol ($IP)

If you were looking for the Story ($IP) unlock this month, you won’t find it. On February 2nd, the Foundation officially announced a 6-month postponement.
Plot Twist: The Story Protocol ($IP) Delay

The headline news for February was originally supposed to be the massive $IP unlock. In a move that surprised the market on February 2nd, the Foundation announced a 6-month delay, pushing their first major unlock to August 13, 2026.

New Unlock Date: August 13, 2026.

Why? The team cited “long-term alignment” and a desire to wait for the next phase of their AI-IP integration features. This effectively removes a massive supply overhang from the February market.
