Major Token Unlocks Coming in April. Watch Out for HYPE, STABLE…

In the crypto market, token unlocks are often viewed as “supply shocks.” While they can provide liquidity, they frequently create downward price pressure if the market cannot absorb the new tokens being sold by early investors or team members.

As I’m writing this article on 2 April, TIA, EDGE, SUI and ENA have already cleared their April unlocks, with Celestia (TIA) (Apr1) releasing roughly 175.6 million tokens (about 17.2% of its total supply), leading to noticeable downward pressure and a classic “sell‑the‑news” reaction in the days following the event.
EDGE (Apr 1) saw a much smaller unlock in the low‑tens‑of‑millions range, which had only a muted impact thanks to limited %‑of‑supply and improving sentiment around its ecosystem narrative.
Sui (Apr 1) showed resilience, rallying +4% despite the unlock, suggesting strong demand and integration-driven utility.
Meanwhile, ENA’s monthly token unlock, also in the tens of millions, added gradual sell pressure but did not trigger a major dump, as the release was already priced in and absorbed by relatively healthy liquidity. Could HYPE repeat this price action? Their token unlock is coming up soon.

Here’s what other token unlocks are yet to take place this April:

Wormhole ( W ) – 3 April 2026

Amount: 1.28 billion W (≈600M shown on some trackers as one of multiple April moments).
% of supply: ~28.39% of circulating supply (huge %‑increase).
Nature / category: Ecosystem & Incubation (funds, early partners, incubated projects).
Timing: 3 April 2026, 11:30 UTC.
Price‑impact notes: Bi‑weekly under “W 2.0” but this is still a major single‑event spike; 20-30% drawdowns are within historical range for such %‑of‑supply cliffs.
Some of the flow may be offset by governance staking (4% base yield) and fee‑based reserve mechanisms.

Hyperliquid (HYPE) – 6 April 2026

Price‑impact notes: Core‑contributor unlocks historically have a higher sell‑rate than foundations or community; expect elevated volatility the week of and after 6 April.

Aptos (APT) – 12 April 2026

Amount: ~11.3 million APT.
% of supply: ~0.68% of released supply.
Nature / category: Ecosystem / investor‑style tranches.
Timing: 12 April 2026, 08:00 UTC.
Price‑impact notes: Small %‑of‑supply means mechanical impact is muted, but can still trigger short‑term dips if APT is already in a risk‑off phase.

Starknet (STRK) – 15 April 2026

Amount: ~127 million STRK.
% of supply: ~1.27% of total supply.
Nature / category: Investor‑side allocation.
Timing: 15 April 2026.
Price‑impact notes: Low‑single‑digit %‑unlock, but Starknet’s lower liquidity vs. giants means sharper short‑term swings are possible.

LayerZero (ZRO) – 20 April 2026

Amount: ~2.4% of circulating supply (exact absolute token count varies by tracker; usually in the tens of millions).

Impact expectations: Because this is a DAO‑treasury‑style release and only a low‑single‑digit percentage of float, the mechanical selloff pressure is significantly lower than the March macro‑unlock. That said, ARB is still relatively sensitive to unlocks due to its high‑beta L2 narrative; expect at least a few days of “unlock overhang” and some short‑term volatility around 16 April, especially if the broader market is risk‑off.

Limitless (LMTS) – 22 April 2026

This is a very high‑impact %‑of‑already‑released supply; can easily trigger 20–40% drawdowns if liquidity is poor and sellers are active.
