Coinbase is the most popular crypto exchange for first-time buyers of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin (and some other altcoins too) and it has become quite an institution over the years. It was one of the first wallets with user-friendly interface that facilitated purchases of Bitcoin back in 2013 when the majority of the crypto purchases were still being done through forums and escrow.

Since then Coinbase has gone through a lot of changes, it’s been fighting regulators and government pressure to disclose their users data (some of which it forced to share) and it added a number of services like Coinbase Pro (complete trading platform) and Coinbase Earn, which I will focus on in this article.

Coinbase Earn is an initiative they started a couple of years back where users are able to earn small amounts of different cryptocurrencies from the Coinbase portfolio, by simply going through a few short videos and learning more about these projects. It’s a great way to create more awareness about these cryptos and draw more audiences to them. In this regard it is not too dissimilar to the way the ZEN faucet initiative started. As I posted earlier, the Horizen team decided to give away ZEN fractions on a daily basis to users who simply visit their website. This creates more visibility to the project and their coin, it also makes people want to find out more about that coin and eventually, become part of the community that supports it.
In a very similar way Coinbase Earn is urging people to learn about coins that they might otherwise have dismissed. They get a small amount of that coin in their wallets and eventually some of these users would take a step further and become investors in that coin and long-term supporters of the project, provided that there is enough appeal of course.

How it works?

Earning crypto with Coinbase takes 3 easy steps:

  1. Watch a video about the cryptocurrency project you selected.
  2. Answer – after each video you’ll receive a simple quiz testing what you’ve learned.
  3. Earn – you receive crypto in your Coinbase wallet for every quiz you complete.
Join Coinbase and put your time into learning and earning.

So, this is the basic idea behind this initiative and I welcome it by all means. Of course, I am not suggesting that you have to become an investor in these coins, but in the very least you have an opportunity to earn a few dollars’ worth of crypto for free.

In order to do that, you need to be a registeredand verified user of Coinbase.

Use this link to register if you are new to Coinbase and you will also get $10 bonus (whever you make your first purchase for up to $100 in crypto)

What cryptocurrencies can you earn?
